We can attempt to teach the things that one might imagine the earth would teach us: silence, humility, holiness, connectedness, courtesy, beauty, celebration, giving, restoration, obligation and wildness.

On Hermit's Island

First you walk through an enchanted forest.

And you arrive at a rocky shore.

Don't fret there is sand there too.

And seaweed to play with.

Walking in sand is strange at first.

Of course there is always time to check out what Mama's reading.

But mainly the day is for sand.

And shells.

Phew! What a day. Luckily the camel was there to carry me home!

The island looks great, close enough to make it a regular destination?

Sort of, we're planning on going ever Fall. I don't know if I'd want to be there when it's full up in the summer.
